Music was not invented by people, it was given to us as a gift of God and it is meant to raise our souls to upper levels of tranquillity and inner peace. Our first music teacher is nature itself and what greater pleasure can we have than walking in a park and listen to the singing birds around us. And with such a perfect teacher, people created their own music to express their feelings and to spread joy and well being in their environment, entertaining their families and friends.
Diversity is the first word that crosses ones mind when talking about music. But how to record music and listen when you need it? In earlier days, the idea to listen music online was just a futuristic idea. People were trying to store their best creations so that they can listen to it whenever they wanted to. In the beginning were the vinyl and the magnetic tape, then the CD or DVD and today the mp3 format has given us the opportunity to store our music on hard disk and flash memories. But why taking storage space from our hard disks and not let others worry for storage space. The Internet helps us again, making it possible to access a large data base of music collection and all other multimedia information stored on network servers. There are plenty of websites with music content that one may get confused which one to choose. At least the music is classified by the so called music directories and you can find artists, instruments, concerts, awards and competitions, lyrics, news or downloads. This helps a lot when you want to search, download and store on your computer your favourite music on your own keywords.
There is also a better way of listening to your favourite music made possible by the ‘streaming’ technology; special software can send the songs you play online bit by bit onto your computer and the audio player assembles it and plays it for you live. And this crucial technological step made listening music online a very common fact. Most of radio stations created their own sites and are providing music online for their audience. Whether you want oldies, classical or gospel or maybe newer styles like pop, rock, metal or R&B you can just connect to your radio and listen music online, of your choice. But technology never stops and with the mobile internet and mobile phones, you can listen music online no matter where you are. If you’re driving your car, you can search some comforting classical or relaxing music and find tranquillity, when you’re on a beach watching the sun rise, you can listen online some meditation music and feel like heaven!
