Improve Your Concentration
Do you like this story?
Wouldn’t it do wonders on your performance if you were able to focus your attention to the tasks that were assigned to you? It’s nice and productive when you can concentrate on any given task without having to run around circles in your head. You can achieve all your goals and reap success after success. If you want these things to become possible for you then you should improve your concentration. One often gets side tracked by less important or unimportant things while working. The ability to concentrate doesn’t improve overnight; it can only be improved by practice and strong determination.
A common and simple cause of poor concentration is visual distraction. Whatever your eyes see your concentration drawn to that thing. You can improve that by reducing the distractions in your surroundings. If you are studying then set your study desk by a plain wall, and face the wall while studying.
Being confused about what you are doing is one of the causes for the lack of concentration. You must work on a single task at a time. This will improve your concentration. For further help, divide the task in smaller chunks and work on them one by one. Write down the process, indicators to follow the process and clear your mind about how the task has to be done. Research well, plan and then start working.
Many people lack concentration because they lack confidence. They feel nervous about doing a certain kind of task. They indulge in imagining their supposedly poor performance even before actually trying their hands at the task. Instead of imagining the performance if the course of action is visualized and decided, it will help you accomplish the task. It will improve your concentration and lessen the time taken by the task.
Another cause for poor concentration is stress. Every one of us faces stress in our daily lives and there are a thousand thoughts in our minds. When our minds are filled with various thoughts it become difficult to concentrate on a particular thing especially what is at your hand. Many unresolved conflicts keep roaming around in our mind and we keep thinking about them. A simple exercise can help in improving the concentration. Remove yourself from work, thoughts and everything, and stay calm for a few minutes. Don’t think of anything and practice deep breathing. It will help you. Decide a time for conflict resolution, tell yourself it’s not productive to think about that at this moment and put those thoughts aside.
One of the major causes for lack of concentration is procrastination. When you postpone a task it takes up some space in your brain and the thought keeps coming back to you. You must quit the habit of procrastination or you will keep thinking about the postponed tasks and are unable to concentrate properly. Device a schedule for your tasks and follow it religiously.
