Every one in kerala was busy celebrating new year But not the people of Trivandrum.The sudden change in the weather has destroyed any hopes of Trivandrum to welcome the new year with thunder.
The Thane cyclone that had devastated the Tamilnadu coast had made the new year a tough event for Trivandrum natives. Water was the villain everywhere with enormous amount of water pouring into the city from everywhere.The effects of this incident was felt in almost all parts of kerala with unusual weather pattern.The Thambaanoor railway station was surrounded by water making any form of transport an impossible option.

The reports from the meteorological stations still claim of the possibility of occasional rainfall in almost all areas of kerala for the next 48 hours.
As per reports almost 50 houses have been damaged along the coast and 5 persons have died.kerala government has stepped into its relief tone where the victims have been promised a sum of one lakh ex-Gratia payments.
The infamous Thane cyclone is reported to have wind speeds above 130 km per hour. This same cyclone had caused innumerable losses on the Tamilnadu coast mainly in the areas of Cudalore and Pondicherry. The total death toll has been said to be in the range of above 40 persons with many injured and thousands rendered homeless.
