List of players transferred in the IPL 5 2012 Transfer window.
1. Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh karthik had a forgettable year in 2011 with Kings XI Punjab which marred all his hopes of geting back to the Indian Cricket National team. In his absense Parthiv Patel and Wriddhiman Saha found takers in the selection committee. This year in 2012 he will look to revive his chances with Mumbai Indians.
As per the reports Mumbai definitely wanted a standard keeper in their side and they spent a fortune geting him. Punjab had no inhibitions as thay got their moneys worth in the deal.
Punjab had spent around 4.75 crores to get Karthik in their side in the 2011 auction. It seems like Mumbai had spent more to get Karthik. Unofficial reports say that Mumbai had given 12.4 crores to the Punjab side.
2. Rajagopal Sathish
Sathish had been given to Punjab as a replacement for the big deal with karthik. As Sathish do not have an Indian national team experience to say on his part he would be paid around 30 lakhs as per IPL rules.
Sathish being an all rounder would definitely secure a spot in the Punjab IPL side which cannot boast of many all rounders.Sathish if not being a match winner would add value to the team he plays with performances in batting , bowling and fielding.
3. Kevin Pietersen
3. Kevin Pietersen
He did not play last year IPL due to injury concerns. Many may not remember that he was bought by Deccan Chargers who already had a plethora of foreign players at their disposal - Kumar Sangakkara ,Cameroon White , Duminy . It was sensible to leave him for Deccan Chargers.
Delhi on the other hand had a forgettable year in 2011 with only Sehwag and Warner coming good in patterns. Their overseas batsmen faltered and were looking for a big name. Now that the line up reads Sehwag ,Warner ,Pieterson. it is sure to raise some eyebrows among many.
4. Harmeet Singh
4. Harmeet Singh
Harmeet singh had done some commendable performances for the Deccan chargers . But the Punjab pacer was left out in many matches. with Ishant Sharma and Manpreet Gony too dooing comnedable performances it was a necessity to leave him from the side.
With some good money in their hands Kings XI Punjab were happy at the return of the Punjab pacer to their side.He could be an effective support to the medium pacer Praveen Kumar in the Punjab side.
5. Andrew McDonald
5. Andrew McDonald
Mcdonald was a revelation in the Big Bash Tournament scoring prolifically 156 runs from 5 games at an average of 52.00 and a strike rate of 136.84. He was under used by the Delhi side last year. His all round capabilities never got the chances to be displayed when Delhi had Ruolof Vander Merwe in their ranks as their all rounder.
Bangalore looking for an all rounder found the recent form displayed by Mcdonald a happy endeavor when they bought him for a sum in the tunes of around 50 lakh rupees.
But with A B Devilliers ,Chris Gayle ,Tilakaretna Dilshan and Daniel Vettori being sure to be in the playing eleven. Mcdonald will have to wait in the benches this year too.
6. Pragyan Ojha
Can you understand how a team can relegate the highest wicket taker in the previous years IPL to their benches and deny him chances to play? That had happened with Pragyan Ojha and Deccan Chargers. He was the highest wicket taker in 2010 earning the purple cap for the Deccan Chargers.
In 2011 auctions Amit Mishra got transferred to Deccan Chargers. With Deccan Chargers unable to play 2 spinners in the playing 11, Amit Mishra got the nod ahead of Pragyan Ojha as his batting became a useful enterprise for the team.
Now Pragyan Ojha is all set to play for the Mumbai Indians who have an irreplaceable Harbajan singh. If Mumbai decides to play 2 spinners Ojha would come in at the loss of the local boy Ali Murtaza who had done some good bowling performances last year.
The team composition would look perfect once the team decides which players to go for in the auctions. The auction will be held on February 4 for the Kochi IPL team players.
