Apple unveils the new iPhone 5
Apple finally unveiled the new version of their popular iPhone on September 12, 2012 at a media event at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. The device will be called iPhone 5 as it was introduced by the Marketing Chief of Apple, Phil Schiller, at the event. The event also revealed several other significant details about the phone, including a larger screen, a faster processor and quicker web browsing experience. In this post I’ll discuss some of the noteworthy modifications Apple made to the new version of iPhone.
The screen is larger
The display screen of iPhone 5 size is larger than the previous versions at 4 inches. The width of the phone is same as iPhone 4, but the height has been increased by almost a centimeter. But more importantly, the LCD is Retina display. In simple words, this means that it has a pixel density that makes it impossible for your eyes to distinguish the individual pixels. So at 326 pixels per inch you can experience the best quality picture and video on your iPhone 5. The color saturation has also been increased by 44% that makes the bright screen spring to live at a single touch. You can watch any widescreen HD videos on your iPhone 5, without any letterboxing to irritate you.
The phone is faster than ever before
Equipped with the new A6 chip, the CPU performance is much faster than your last iPhone. Apple claims that it is at least twice as fast as the iPhone running on the A5 chip. Applications will open up faster, web pages download faster and email attachments open up right away. Even the graphics performance has been improved, so your apps and games will show much better graphics performance. Now you will be able to enjoy your favorite games with higher frame rates that will give you much smoother gaming experience.
The batter life has improved
Not only is the iPhone 5 slimmer and faster, it now also has a longer battery life than any of your old phones. The A6 chip synchronized perfectly with the new iOS 6 to give superior performance using minimum battery power. In spite of more powerful graphics and faster speed, the battery life is long enough to last throughout the day. It can provide up to 8 hours of talk time, 8 hours of internet browsing at LTE speeds and up to 10 hours of video playback time.
The 8 megapixel camera
The 8MP iSight camera on the iPhone 5 has a sapphire crystal lens. So the lens surface will be less prone to scratches as Sapphire is one of the hardest transparent materials after diamond. Apple claims that taking photos is now 40 percent faster than capturing a scene from your iPhone 4. They also claim improved performance in low-light conditions and a better noise reduction filter. You can also snap pictures while recording a video, so you never miss any moment worth capturing.

If you haven't been able to tell, this is the most high scrutinized iPhone to hit the market. Apple had a leg up on competition on previous releases but these days their competition is tough. The iPhone 5 comes at a time where there are already dozens of phones that have the same, or better capability. Either way, this iPhone is still really cool but I'll stick with my Galaxy S3.
